Best Flat Wound Steel Strings Ever Made
September 13, 2022
I used to work with Jimmy Vivino and he turned me on to these strings....

I have never looked back! The lack of winding squeel as fingers transition is priceless for recordings. They wear well -- all the time expressing different facets of character as they age.

Unlike other flat wound strings, the the TI's are never dull sounding and the bass when new makes my acoustic guitar sound like a piano.

No other strings for me.
Everything! Can't think of any negatives.

This is really nice!

I haven't bought TI strings in quite some time as I just did not like the lighter feel and combination of the gauges. Now that my hands don't like a heavier gauge as much as they used t,o and I have more than one guitar, I gave these a try again. Wonderful feel and tone. No, I would not pay the additional money for the heavier gauge set. I even strung the guitar while a tv and a fan were turned on. I figured that if these strings sound that good, the tone will cut through the background noise. And they did! Different strings for different guitars, and I found a guitar perfect for this set.

Perfect for my use

I have these on a 27.5" hollowbody, tuned BG#C#G#BbC# - basically Open G with a low C, tuned a half step down. I've used lighter Thomastik Swings for years on all my electrics - this gauge pairs up perfectly with this instrument and tuning. I wouldn't use any other strings.

Dear JustStrings.com,

I just re-strung my Crafters of TN resophonic round neck guitar with Thomastik-Infeld Electric Guitar Steel/Nickel Flat Wound Medium, .013 - .053, JS113 that I bought from you - which, yes, I know is typically a "no-no" to put electric strings on an acoustic instrument. The sound is phenomenal, though! A little dark/ warm, but by no means "thuddy" or "toneless." For what I'm using the instrument for, they give me the PERFECT tone! Even with the medium gauge, the strings play smoothly and with ease - a far cry from the D'addario Flat Tops I replaced. (No offense to you; I know you carry both sets, but those Flat Tops are HORRID and barely playable). I want to review these TI strings so badly, but I can't figure out how to do that on the site. Feel free if you'd like to upload this, as I see there are currently no reviews for these strings in the medium gauge.

Anyways, just thought I'd pass along my news - I'm ecstatic!! Thanks for carrying these, and thanks also for super quick shipment and secure ordering, as always. You remain my go-to guys for all my string needs. :)

I love these strings. They have much better tone than the Chromes I have been using. Gauge, feel and everything else about them is great.

TI Flat-wound mediums...
November 9, 2010
After a few years away from Thomastik-Infeld's Swing series, I'm back for good. My #1 guitar, a Heritage Groovemaster, came with TI 13's on it, the tones were incredible and the feel and response were like an old friend. Putting on a fresh set just cemented my decision. With weekly gigs, the tone settles in pretty quickly, and stays consistent longer than any other brands that I've used, including D'A, LaB, and others (although, I admit I have not tried the more costly brands). The additional cost is easily justified by their longevity alone, but the tone and feel are the qualities that knock it out of the park. Eager to switch to TI's on my semi-hollow.

I am always trying different strings. I will search no more. TI strings cost a little more, but they are worth it. Can't wait to try the round wounds.

I have been using these strings for many years now and can`t begin to tell you how well they perform. From sound to durability they last longer of anything I have ever used. In the past I would change strings every month or so but , with these I have no problem with them lasting 6-months. As long as I keep playing they will be the only strings I`ll ever use.

They are, hands down, the only strings worth buying. Quality, tone, durability.

Great strings
December 21, 2009
Over the past several decades I've had done to my guitars just about everything one can possibly do to a guitar. The one singular, most significant thing I've ever done, though, was to put this set of Thomastik-Infeld strings on. The difference is immediate and absolutely amazing! And, too, they seemingly last forever! I've used these strings exclusively now for about 6-8 years and can't imagine even considering using another string. There is no close second. It would be very cool if they would make this set with a .014 E and a plain unwound .020 G but I can and do buy those separately.

Recently picked two sets of these (.013s) and replaced the (0.012s) D'Addario Chromes I had in my ES-175D. A huge tone difference and they feel great under your fingertips. I'm not trying anything else after this.

Have tried a number of manufacturers' strings. Swore by Sadowsky strings until I tried these. Undoubtedly the best string - longest life, best tone - I've encountered. Yes, they're expensive, but they're worth it.
