Hell is in the Details
August 18, 2011
I bought them from a real bricks 'n mortar store, much cheaper here (I didn't know.)
Sound - five stars - nothing (I mean NOTHING) made my guitar sound that good.
Stability: Meh. Same as others. My Ibanez is a little difficult to intonate at the best of times. The coating may be smooth but it seems to grab at the nut as well so no tremolo. Didn't care about that ... I'm not much of a warbler.
Looks: Drop dead gorgeous - until I played a lot. When the coating wore off it was so visible at the frets. Some strings you put on the guitar just for the picture.
Reliability: (ahem) ... the B string 2broke in the first two weeks. I didn't do any bends or anything fancy, and it broke at the anchor, not the bridge or nut or tuning machine. I wasn't doing bends. Right now I'm with some DDT's and have been bending to my hearts content without a problem. A sample size of ONE does not make a statistical trend. I could have just had a bad one... but replacing it with another string (from another pack) was horrid... the buttery smooth tones from the Red Devils changed to the screeching of the "other" strings. (strings because the B alone sounded really bad... changing G/B/E seemed more balanced... though unsatisfying.)
Want a photo... get these. Want a great sound for one day before it looks terrible - these do the trick for the show. Playing for weeks without a string change... maybe not.

DR Strings Extra Life Red Coated .010-.052
April 7, 2010
if you play guitar or bass, order from Just Strings! The strings arrived very quickly! The .052 was shipped without a protective sleeve, which had allowed some of the coating to rub off. I contacted Just Strings, and they had another set shipped immediately. the prices are the lowest, the selection is extensive, shipping is extremely fast, and the customer service is a 10/10!!!! I won't go anywhere else for strings.
