I use these on a Martin 000-18 that has a Seymour Duncan Woody XL magnetic humbucking soundhole pickup in it. The nickle-wound XL Jazz Lites help give me a better balance and a stronger signal as opposed to using the similar gauged phosphor bronze EJ-16's.

Consistently Fantastic Sound

I have an Ibanez Artcore that I love, but couldn't keep in tune with the consistency I wanted. I kept trying heavier and heavier string gauges, and when I put these on I actually broke a bit of plastic off the nut where the low E was a skosh too wide for the slot. When I finished cursing, I tried the guitar out... and it sounded absolutely incredible. Very rich and a bit heavy, with a fat, clear tone. I debated for a few minutes over whether the heavier tension and wound 3rd string would limit me too much in terms of bending or vibrato, but opted to stick with it because it sounded so meaty... and within a couple of days I was used to it anyway. (...and, by the way, it did solve the tuning problems.) I am still amazed every time I pick up that guitar how auspicious that string-guitar combination was and how inspiring it sounds, and it always induces me to stand there and play, no matter what I was doing before!
