Black Diamond brass acoustic strings
November 10, 2019
I had always heard about Black Diamond strings, so I thought I'd order a set and try them out myself.
The first set I ordered was a steel set of strings with a lighter bass end. I have an all maple guitar, and those who have all maple guitars will tell you, I should have known better. The sound was very bright. So bright, in fact, that it just didn't have any bass response. One strum later, I knew I forgot to match up my guitar to the correct style of strings.
After thinking through what I was doing, I ordered the set of brass strings with the heavier E A and D strings. One strum later, I knew I'd hit the nail on the head.
Whatever type of acoustic you have, whether it be of a warm, mellow wood that could use a bright set of strings to help it bring out it's tone, or a bright tone wood like maple, that needs strings to help it calm down some of its brightness and produce a better bass end, Black Diamond has you covered.

Pros
- Beautiful tone
- Mellows out an overly bright guitar
- Brings out the bass on a guitar that is really bright on high end, but doesn't excel on the bass. Helps it have a more evenly balanced tone.
Cons
- Strings are a little scratchy. Not terrible, but they could be a little better.
