Pyramid Electric Guitar Strings

“These are truly high end strings, they reduce unwanted finger noise, and they sound terrific...,” says a Pyramid flat wound player. Electric guitar strings are offered by Pyramid in two series – their flat wound “Gold” strings and their round wound “Maximum Performance” strings.

The “Gold” sets are pure nickel, flat wounds and plain steels in three tension gauges from .010-.0465 to .013-.052. Both a plain and a wound third string are included with the light gauge (GF610) set. A GF613 player reports, “I play jazz standards, fingerstyle and love not only the tone but the feel of these strings, smooth as silk with absolutely no finger noise.” Another says, “These are sweet and worth the $$. Smooth and squeak-free on leads, nice balanced tones on rhythm, long lasting and easy to play.”

The “Maximum Performance Strings” are pure nickel, round wound and are available in nine sets of gauges from .008-.038 to .012-.056. These strings are lower in tension than most other electric, round wound guitar strings, because the high quality of the strings’ material allows for a thinner core wire and larger diameter winding wire. They are hand made by master stringmakers. Each set has a plain third, except two sets, GR61254 and GR61256, which have a plain third and a wound third in each set. A GR6838 player reports, “These are the best strings I have ever had the privilege of playing. They are very slick, and bends are amazingly smooth. The tone is very punchy and responsive and the harmonics ring forever. I am also very impressed with how long they last …I will never use any other string.” Another states, “The higher cost is easily offset by the longer life.”

A customer using the GR61254 sets says, “I like the fact that you get the option of either an unwound G or a wound one. Since I have two guitars with different tonal characteristics, I find that I could buy the same gauge strings for both of them -- .012 - .054 -- and use the wound G on one of them. These strings are not too bright, but neither are they so mellow that there is no aggression. These guys aren't kidding when they say that the strings are more flexible at a higher gauge than other brands.”
