works on dulcimer
January 17, 2019
I started a dulcimer group at senior living complex. this tuner works great. It is large enough for the seniors to read. I am back to buy 2 more for individuals.
large read area, works on a 27" fret scale. and clamps the 3/4" thick tuner head. it takes a bit of playing with to get it turned so it can be read, however once set up no problem.

Wonderful tuner

Especially for acoustic guitars. It is perfect to just throw in your case with your travel guitar also. It is easy to use and very accurate.

Snark SN-1 Clip-on Tuner is Awesome!
July 26, 2014
I'd been looking for an inexpensive tuner to use at gigs and while practicing that was simple, compact, accurate, easy to read with my old eyes, and would work with both my electric and acoustic guitars. But, what I didn't expect to find was a unit that had all the features that I wanted AND a built-in METRONOME. I found it! The SN-1 - which, in my mind makes this the Holy Grail of tuners.

I just got mine from JUST STRINGS and have used it for only a couple of days... but here's what I can tell you...

1. It's really accurate. Considering where it's been clipped on my guitars, I'm actually amazed by this. I've compared the key display on the SN-1 to that of my Boss TU-2 and the internal tuner in my Godin Seagull acoustic guitar. It's dead on!

2. The display is beautiful! and bright and the outer case is more electric blue that the blue in the photo - much cooler looking than I expected.

3. The font showing the key you are in is large, bright and clear.

4. The meter that indicates both sharp and flat positions is bright red, making it easy to calibrate your strings in the right directions.

5. The clip is decent, and has held strong regardless of placement on both of my guitars, although I have yet to test it in an actual stage situation where it would be subjected to greater inertia and movement.

6. It comes with a nice storage bag and a flat style battery. Not sure how long this will last, but I know you can buy replacement batteries for a couple of bucks.

7. What you can't see in the above photo is the small adjustable goose-neck feature that allows you to position the display in almost any direction or angle. So far, I like my SN-1 clipped at the top of my headstock and angled back behind the tuning pegs, so that only I can see the display and tempo meter on the METRONOME! (Did I mention that it has a metronome!)

8. The buttons are small and take some getting used to but, hey it's a clip-on portable tuner meant to be discreet. They are responsive and feel like they will last, unless abused.

I swear, I don't work for these people. It's just that my enthusiasm explodes anytime I find a product that meets and then exceeds my expectations. This is one of those products.

Summary: Very cool looking, very reasonably priced, Great display, Nicely adjustable, very accurate, and IT HAS A METRONOME!
Part of Snark’s original clip-on series of tuners, the SN-1 model is a highly sensitive, vibration tuner for guitar and bass. The full color display rotates 360 degrees allowing for discreet placement and use by both right and left handed players. The “Stay-Put” clip allows for easy and secure placement on the headstock of most instruments. For flat tuning up to the fourth fret, use the SN-1’s transpose feature with easy button activation.

A “Power Save” feature gets maximum use from the one CR2032 battery which is included. This feature dims the display after five seconds of no sound detection and returns the display to full brightness when a note is detected. The tuner will automatically turn off after two minutes of no sound detection. The display portion of the tuner measures about 1 ˝” in diameter and ˝” deep.
