I have a Dean Rhapsody 12 string bass and unlike the bulk of 12vers out there it's a long scale,2octave neck. Needless to say that the tension on a 12ver is pretty hefty so finding a set of strings that are lighter than the norm is a dream come true.
But dream gauge aside, the S.I.T.s really deliver on tone. A great shimmer in the high end without sounding harsh and a bright and punchy lower end without the mud. Mids cut through with a nice clarity and the over all harmonic quality is present and full. The feel is consistent across all fundamentals and octaves. Articulation on a 12 string bass can be problematic due to the 3 string per note/fret but the lighter gauge of the S.I.T.s make for an easier affair.
I've had this set on my bass for about 8 months now...still bright..punchy..sustain for days..and the tone delivers.
My only quip? I would like an even lighter set..really! I am used to the feel of a lighter set for my 4 string basses (30,50,70,90) and would love a set with respective octave strings in that gauge. But,that's a personal preference...
