Short scale SIT Nickel Power Wounds
April 1, 2011
This is the second set I have used on my Epiphone Allan Woody bass. I had had a set before and used two or three brands on it since. I decided to go back to these. The price was right, they lasted for quite a while, and they had a really great tone. The strings give the bass a little more low end clarity instead of a dull thud like a lot of strings sound like on a short scale.

SIT .45-.100 Power Wound Nickels
April 1, 2011
I had sought a replacement for nickel rounds since my previous nickel strings' manufacturer changed the formula on their strings.
I had previously used a short scale version of this set and decided to try them out on my P Bass fretless. The set is very balanced from string-to-string. They are also very smooth the fingers and fingerboard. I am very impressed with their tone. The strings have what I would call a medium tension.
The short scale and 8 string versions I have used were long lasting and held their tone well, and I expect the same from these. again, the price was very competitive.

Excellent all-around string for the working pro!
December 31, 2009
I think a lot of players pass on SIT strings because of name-recognition. It's a shame.

These are really excellent all-around rock bass strings, especially for the real world working musician. They last a long time, sound great, are not too hard on the fingers and frets, and are very affordable. I've been using them for about 10 years now and can't imagine using anything else.

My old favorite was the Ernie Ball Slinky. I think these last a bit longer and feel a little faster under the fingers. Check them out, I think they will surprise you.

The Company

"When the S.I.T. Strings Company was started in 1973, we wanted to be different from any other in the industry. Extensive marketing and large sales were never our primary goals. Due to the fact that we both had a love for the guitar and music, the company always reflected our enthusiasm for change. And change is what this company was based on, never being content with the standards of everyone else, but always striving for a higher level. By creating and inventing things that had never been thought of before, S.I.T. has always made strings that change things.

Quality control was also a major concern, and it was discovered long ago that only caring machine operators could be permitted to construct musical instrument strings. Each and every piece had to have the individual attention of the engineer, and our strings are still made this way today.

After S.I.T.'s humble start, it was not long before professional and amateur players alike were demanding the product on an international scale. Since that time, we have grown by leaps and bounds, and are always looking for ways to create new products and improve old ones.

S.I.T. is committed to, as well as thankful to, the musicians who made us what we are. We will always strive to stay the most progressive string company in the world.

Why not inspect our strings closely and prove this to yourself? Stop by for a free factory tour, and see them made while you wait.

The improvements and innovations have only just begun, and as we move into the next century there will always be room for improvement. We invite you to be a partner along that journey with us."
