Great Strings
August 9, 2019
Always been hard to find, used them when they were sold as Funkmasters. Once I got an 8 string bass, I had to find them. Absolutely perfect for that application. Please keep them in production.
ProsHelps with action on 8 string bass is my main reason. The have a nice feel when used on 4 string...
ConsTricky at first, but one you get the logic of the ball setup, can be hard to throw on.

My favourite roundwound bass strings
January 23, 2019
as stated above: these strings are really my favourite type of roundwound string.
due to the fact that only the inner core sits on the bridge the intonation is always good and you will experience lots of sustain (comparing to regular strings)
next to that you are able to play more dynamic because even the lightest touch produces a note that has enough sustain and character.
also very important: because you need to the ball end yourself you actually have a bass string that will fit all types of bridges and i use them on both top-load and string-thru bridges.
but the main reason why i started using these strings about 20 years ago is because i'm a huge Queen fan and back then i found out bij reading the "International Musician and recording world" edition from '79 that John Deacon used these strings as well!
Only back then they were called Superwound 606, and there also used to PSD flatwound strings as well!! these were the Superwound 707 sets, but unfortunatly these went out of production...
Still hoping that Rotosound will decide to re-introduce these 707 sets!
Pros-very much sustain -very easy to intonate -you can play very dynamic -a nice tone character as well -fits various types of bridges -used by John Deacon -and ofcourse: it's a set of Rotosound strings!
Cons-a little expensive -only one gauge available (i prefer heavy gauges: 50-75-95-110)

Very good strings...bright, cut through any sound on that stage. Pros, long lasting, loud feel, really good, great growl. Cons, company rep in California sucks not a very nice staff..should all be fired..

These strings sound great. They are exactly
what you would think a piano string would
sound like on a bass, good sustain crisp, loud ,trebley. The down side, sadly, although they are supposed to be adjustable the 'E' string does not fit a Rickenbacker very well. Can't say about other basses. Also if you are not quite right with adjusting them the first time you might not get a second chance, while bending the 'D' string to fit the ball end the string broke.Called Rotosound they said they would send a replacement set,it's been a month haven't seen them.Too expensive to go and buy another set when one breaks on installation.
