Pyramid Electric Guitar Strings

Made of the finest materials, Pyramid’s pure nickel, round wound strings are perfectly balanced and play easily and with great flexibility. Because of the quality and purity (99.2%) of the nickel used to make the winding for these strings, they have a supple feel and are much less stiff than many similar nickel wrapped strings. This can allow some players to try higher gauge strings for a bigger sound, but still have the flexibility of a lower gauge string. Pyramid says they have a “silver-shimmering tone” with extra-long playing life and work with most styles of music. Additional gauge variations can be found for Drop D tuning, jazz gauges and a “Perfect Balance” set.

Pyramid calls their “Gold” pure nickel, flatwound electric guitar strings the "original vintage flatwounds”, because they can reproduce the sound of the fifties and sixties, but are also great for today’s music. Precision handwork is required to make these perfectly balanced strings. They are brilliant, but with all the warmth of pure nickel strings, long sustain and rich upper harmonics. A lower action than with any roundwound string is possible, and you will hear very little finger noise. A JustStrings customer says, “These are sweet and worth the $$. Smooth and squeak-free on leads, nice balanced tones on rhythm, long lasting and easy to play.”

Pure nickel Maximum Performance round wound strings by Pyramid have an extra-long playing life and lower tension than most other electric, round wound guitar strings. The high quality material used allows for a thinner core wire and larger diameter winding wire, resulting in a great feel and the brilliant warmth of pure nickel. What Pyramid calls “a warm, reed-like” tonal quality will give just the sound you need to play the blues or many other styles of music.

Round cores (instead of the more common hex cores) give Pyramid’s Nickel Classics electric guitar pure nickel strings a warm vintage sound, lower tension, easy playability and amazing sustain. Round core strings require highly skilled production technique with superior materials. Popular in the fifties and sixties, you will find their tone “silky and shimmering”. A review by a JustStrings customer states, “These strings are not too bright, but neither are they so mellow that there is no aggression. These guys aren't kidding when they say that the strings are more flexible at a higher gauge than other brands.” Very important: Do not cut these wound strings to a desired length without first making a sharp bend into the string behind the cutting point. Without this, the string will unravel.
