Pyramid Gold strings

I recently purchase a 1960 Silvertone bass. I was told these were, the best strings for it. I absolutely love these strings. Perfect for my vintage bass.

Great super smooth flats. Pure magic on a Precision Bass. These strings, like many flatwounds, require some break in time before they sound their best. For people complaining about uneven strings this is why. Given some time the even out and sound great for a very, very long time. I've tried just about every flatwound string I could find and these are my favorite on a p bass. Great on other basses but Precision + Pyramid Gold = amazing tone.

I found the Pyramid Gold bass strings to be a real let down! Their tone is muddy on the E and A string making them almost impossible to get a clear note on. Their cost is very high and would be worth it only if they worked...they don't! Save your
money and purchase a nice set of LaBella (39-96) Beatle Bass strings for your bass. I did and I'll never consider Pyramid again.

PYR .040-.100 SS strings

I have to agree with another reviewer here that the PYR are unbalanced for the Hofner. The E typically lacks resonance on a Hofner. Hofner brand are Pyramids too. I'm surprised not find TI JF324H strings for sale here. They are superior on a German Hofner bass and are a much preferred balanced set.

I've had my Hofner for years and have tried other strings. I love Pyramid and will continue to use them for as long as I own this bass. Big fan.

Knowing that Paul use these strings I bought them but I did not like at all. I thought they were very uneven. The bass strings (E,A) to muddy and the higher strings( D,G) too metallic. Could not use it on my Hofner Beatles bass

Scale is right. But the balls to keep them on are too small.

I've been using the Pyramid flats on my first Hofner for almost 20 years. I once strayed a bit and used another string and tried those for about a year..didn't do anything for me. So, I went back to the Pyramids....ahhh, that's much better.

I haven't had a bad string yet (I know every company has a dud every now and then). These strings will give you that ultra warm sound that you remember from a lot of the records from the 50-70's, even. I put them on my Dano Longhorn and they are bright enough that you can hear the note definition, but still retain that warm bass that we all know and love.

I'll never stray again for my Hofners...

Put these on my '66 Guild Starfire and the tone was amazing, really made the old girl come alive.

My Favorite Bass Strings

Paul McCartney used these so I thought they'd be worth a try. It doesn't get any better for my Hofner bass copy! It's the exact sound I want. However, these are flatwound so they won't appeal to everyone. It's more of a '60's sound.
