Planet Waves DP0002 string winder / cutter
The winder works great and the cutter easily trims the excess length of steel and nylon strings.

No Issues
I wasn't sure how it would work on my mandolin, but it is great. Fits the tuners nice and snug, the cutter works great.

Planet Waves Winder and Cutter
The winder doesn't fit exactly, takes time to get used to holding it correctly. The cutter was only good for my E strings. Any strings in the middle, the cutter is to big to fit. Wire cutter works better.

Fine winder; so-so cutter.
As a winder, this is functional. I use it on a classical guitar and it sometimes slips off of the tuning keys if I don't hold it just right. I am fine with the size, since I have larger hands.

Not a huge fan of the cutter. It doesn't fit inside the gaps in the headstock of my guitar and it doesn't always give a clean cut of the bass strings, especially the D-string, for me.

I haven't used any other guitar-specific tools and I find that the wire nippers from my tool box do a great, clean job on the strings.

My feedback...for what it's worth.

basic but functional
Works well. Feels a bit cheesy. Fat shape of string cutter makes getting into a slot head a bit awkward, and spring loaded cutter would be better (but then you'd need a lock to close it for the winder mode). Fits in the Martin 000 case. Overall good tool for the price.

This string winder is very easy to use and it just takes seconds to tune up your Uke when replacing strings. The cutting tool on the end of the handle is excelent. I would buy this tool again.
