Ken Smith Compressors:
Performance has been exactly what I desire... both the sonic qualities (timbre of the nickel-iron alloy) as well as the physical properties (smooth feel of the compressed wrap) allow me to get all the tone I need for live gigs and recordings. They have performed as expected (e.g. great bass tone, reduced string noise, less fret wear, intonation stability) while allowing the individual character to come thru on a wide range of long-scale bass instruments (Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker, Epiphone). Suitable for any style (solid pick, felt pick, digit plucking, slap/pop) or genre (C&W, R&B, R&R, pop, progressive, jazz). Good assortment of gauges available. Purple silk wrap is a nice bonus!
Only available in long-scale (34"); nearly impossible to find in local music stores; industry standard ordinary packaging. Images uploaded are of a used set showing the fret contact areas.

Love these strings. I've been using them for years on a number of basses. Sound great right away and last quite long with great tone. Excellent price also!

The perfect string for recording, and tough as nails. Great on a Series I.

Best strings ever

Last a good bit longer than regular roundwounds, they are slightly smoother to the touch, and are great for bright playing styles without all the string noise. I love them and they have been my regular strings for about four years now.

After initial install the 'voice' of each string was clear, smooth, and just bright enough to provide solid punctuation to the note played. After approx. 6 hours of playing time the brightness has 'faded' but is still decent. The strings are holding their intonation and sound good. My playing style does not include slap or extreme plucking force. Time will tell how much use I'll get before a need to re-string.
