Long life
July 29, 2012
Different from the usual alloy wraps, these have a unique tone response that works well with the already woody tone of my Brentrup PML. They last longer (before the intonation checks out with the elasticity) than any other I have used over the years. Some beef up the 'A' pair, but I didn't find that necessary. even after switching from D'Addario J-75 after many years.
Try a set - it's the only way you'll know for sure!

Sam Bush Monel Wound Mandolin Strings
December 2, 2011
These strings are now the only ones I use. They stay in tune, last a long time and have a sort of "dead" sound that I prefer over the brighter bronze-wound Bill Monroe signature strings. I play a Stan Miller from 2006 and a Cliff Sargent from 2003.

The strings are great, they actually stay in tune longer and sound wonderful.

Gibson Sam Bush Strings

I have a Gibson F-5 (ca. 1962) and it only sings with these strings. The tone and balance from high to low is perfect, plus they seem to last forever!

Sam Bush signature mando strings
September 29, 2010
I have 2 mandolins: hand made "A" and it's mate "F". The Gibson - Bush strings really compliment both........great clarity and note separation. They seem to last forever. The monel winding is obviously a "plus factor" It doesn't corrode or collect grime as much as bronze. (It's also used as lock wire on aircraft components). Gibson Sam Bush are my string of choice, since I discovered them about 5 years ago.

I have 3 mandolins that I play regularly. I like the longer life from the Gibson Sam Bush strings.
