GHS Banjo Strings
GHS offers four, five and six string banjo sets. The four and five strings sets come in phosphor bronze or stainless steel, loop or ball end and in a variety of gauges. Phosphor bronze strings have a mellower tone; stainless steel strings are brighter and have longer tone life. All strings are extra long to fit a variety of four string banjos. The five string sets also have an extra long winding (42”) and their loop ends are a special shape to fit a variety of tailpieces. All plain steel strings feature GHS lock twist to stay in tune.
Two stainless steel sets were developed with performer J. D. Crowe to capture the banjo's true tone. The first set, PF140, is a light gauge set designed primarily for studio recording. While the PF135 Medium Light set is a little heavier and helps to keep J.D.'s playing strong and powerful while on stage.
Another set, PF175 Medium light, is one of GHS’s most popular stainless steel banjo sets and was developed to match Sonny Osborne's own custom set gauging.
