Nickel Wound

Ernie Ball Nickel Wound strings (not Slinkys) are custom gauged and feature a wound G string. Often called jazz sets, they are also used by alternative, rock, and pop musicians, such as The Mars Volta and Judas Priest. The wound strings are nickel plated steel on a hexagonal core. The plain strings are made of a specially tempered tin plated carbon steel and with the custom wound strings give your guitar a well-balanced sound.
