Elixir Acoustic strings

These strings seem to last forever. 3 times longer than the other strings I have been using. The sound is also superior to the other strings. Love em

last long, sound and feel good.

Perfect strings for someone who doesn't like string squeak, hard tension Medium gauge, and frequent string changing. These strings last and last and last, and actually sound better the more they are broken in. Perfect for my Martin HD-28.
ProsLong lasting, smooth feel.
ConsA bit of damping on my all mahogany 000-15, D'addario EJ-16's are better.

Although this set was originally developed for smaller body Taylors, I've started using it on my 2000 D-RH Custom (large sound hole HD28 style dreadnaught).

I love the balance of this set. I have my guitar set up with quite low action. The slow bit of additional tension on the treble side is very welcome, but the set doesn't feel as stiff as I suspected it might.

I would recommend that anyone even thinking of trying this set, give it a go. I'm glad I did.

Great strings, a few minor issues
February 13, 2015
First, I'll say that Elixir is very good about replacing strings if one has an issue, and there have been a few occasions over the years.

Now to the point: The HD are the prescribed string for the smaller bodied Taylor guitars. Never having been good at blind obedience, I put a set of mediums on my koa Taylor, and took them back off 5 minutes later. Taylor knew what they were doing.

That said, I'm picking up a couple .054 low E strings from other manufacturers to test my theory, which is that my guitar would benefit from SLIGHTLY more bass in that low E.

Overall, I'm fond of them, pleased by the Elixirs I've gotten, but I wish they made something between the 53 and 56 for the low E.

I would still put these on my Taylor guitars every time.

I'm trying these out. My guitar is built for lights, but the builder -- Huss and Dalton -- will "allow" me to use beefier treble strings IF I use lighter strings on the (lower) E, A and D. We'll see. I'll post once I know if this works.
