This string is easy on the fingers, nice and bright, and holds tone for a long, long time. It's just fine as a low B string on my Ibanez 506; most folks seem to use heavier gauges, but the lighter gauge keeps this string lively and clean-sounding.

elixir for fretless

i play Pedulla fretless "buzz" basses, which have a finished fingerboard. The coating on the elixir strings is gentle on the finish, which lets me use a roundwound string without tearing up the fingerboard. Ooh, and they sound great.

This string is perfect as an E string when playing one full-step down or Drop-D tuning. Keep a perfect tension for fast response and sustain.
