Simply the best on the market in tone, life and play ability.
Thank you give them 5 stars.

Elixir Lights

I began using Elixir Lights several years ago and it would take an amazing new string to ever get me to change types. The tone is so consistent and they I've only broken a couple of strings and I play at least three hours a day. When the strings become difficult to tune, I change them. They are simply the banjo string out there for Bluegrass!

Elixir Strings
March 13, 2010
I previously gave these strings a poor review in October...I have a '93 Earl Scruggs Model, which was set up by David Sheppard in S.C.

The set up on this banjo is pretty tight, and I have found the Elixir strings do well on this banjo...I also have a 36-38 model 11 conversion banjo which was set up by Harold Criscoe...It has a more loose set up, with more of a "ring" tone, and the Gibson ES strings work better on it...So, my appologies to the folks at Elixir***I just ordered two more sets of these boys for my ES Gibson....

elixir Light banjo strings
October 3, 2009
I have used elixir strings in the past for the simple reason that my hands perspire while playing (especially in the summer), and I find myself wiping off the strings constantly while performing. For that reason, strings usually do not last that long. I usually play the Gibson ES light strings. The sound quality of the elixir strings is not as good as the Gibson strings, and the little bit of extra play is not worth the extra cost. I'll stick to the Gibsons.

"Elixir Strings deliver the tone and feel banjo players demand. All our banjo strings have loop ends, and the brilliant tone of the nickel-wrapped wound string perfectly complements the plain steels.

"Every time you play your banjo, tiny bits of you are left to invade the windings to contaminate your strings and kill your tone. Elixir Strings are the only strings that keep dirt out of the windings by coating the entire string. And thanks to a patented POLYWEB Coating, they retain their tone longer than any other string, uncoated or coated, according to players. This means you buy fewer sets of strings, change them less often and trust your banjo is ready to go whenever you are."
