Dunlop Heavy Core - HEAVIEST
July 14, 2016
I'm surprised nobody has reviewed these strings yet! In support of these strings, which are incredible strings, as well as being an American made product, I'll say the following: I play in Drop-C 100% of the time, but finding good strings that perform well in this tuning with a guitar with Dual Passive Humbuckers has been hit or miss. Until a year ago, I used Dunlop Heavy Core - HEAVY (10/48) strings until I tried a set of D'Addario XL (12/60), which were better strings, so I switched. However, a few weeks ago, I decided to try the Dunlop Heavy Core strings again, except this time in the HEAVIEST gauge... The second I put these strings on and started tuning them, I knew I had a winner on my hands. I could actually feel the resonance as I was tuning. My high C string, which is normally hard to get tuned accurately, was actually tuning to C PERFECTLY, which was impressive. As soon as I plugged in and started playng, it was like 'WOW'! The sound coming out of these strings was incredible. Bright, crisp, smooth, great tone, massive sustain, huge resonance, amazing tone while shredding, strumming, 'chugging', and incredibly responsive with vibrato's, pinched and tapped harmonics, tapping, sweep picking, and palm muting. Amazing strings! The vibrato's are easy as pie on these strings as well. I immediately went and ordered 5 more sets. These are the best strings for drop C tuning on the market; especially for the price range. Try these out if you haven't yet!!
