I've been through a lot of strings on a lot of basses and somehow I keep coming back around to old Fender Jazz basses. Somehow they have that certain mojo, that je ne sais quoi, just wonderful. I used to use standard gauge (.045 - .105) roundwounds, but going just one step lighter (.040 - .100) makes these basses feel really cozy and wonderful to play and the sound is still beautiful. The Dunlop Nickel Plated Steel strings are very consistent (never a bad one!) and hold their bright and balanced tone for a long time. And the price is really reasonable. Try it - you'll like it!
