Max Grip Carbon Fiber Jazz III
May 10, 2010
I'm no Eric Johnson, so I can't comment on on the tonal characteristics of carbon fiber vs nylon. If you like jazz III's and better grip sounds good to you you'll probably dig these picks. They're perfect for playing fast technical metal.

Dunlop Max Grip Carbon Fiber Jazz III pick
April 10, 2010
Gives all the advantages of the Jazz III pick in a VERY stiff material. I use the red Jazz III, and love them, so I thought I'd give these a try. Compared to the reds, they have a more pronounced pick attack and a sharper, more defined tone. The reds are more mellow sounding. I don't have any of the black nylon JIII's around, but going off of memory alone, the CF version exhibits more attack and sharpness of tone, while in no way sounding "thin" - they launch a note with authority. I think the carbon fiber version would suit a heavy rock player perfectly.
