I’ve used these strings a few times now, and love their smooth action. Highly recommended

These are my favorites purely for the string tone clarity on a variety of basses !

DR Bass Extra Life Strings

These strings sound great I have the Black Beauties, they tuned good right out of the box. I love the low E & the high G. I play with the DR Marcus Miller I don't know if I'll put them back on.

DR Colour Coated

I've been playing music for over 45 years, bass for the last 30.
Tried two sets of these strings (black): on a 70s custom P-base style fretless and a Newer Ibanez SR 5-string
Tone: Out of the box they sounded (to me) like premium nickels that were already broken in, slightly muted, smooth highs, detailed mids with good punch and growl, and tight, warm fundamentals. I think these were the brightest sounding coated strings I've heard. After about a dozen sessions there was no perceptable change in sound quality.
And yes... they looked great!
Feel: They have some resistance to sliding, almost sticky/rubbery. On the five string this was, well, ..O.K. but for me (I have a very light touch), definitely not O.K. on the fretless.
I think someone with a heavier hand would not notice this as much.
Bottom line: I will buy these again for a fretted instrument because of the great looks and more than reasonable tone quality.

DR Bass Strings

Love the longevity, and the tone is about as good as it gets for coated strings - I've had an issue with ball ends coming off a couple times, but all it took was an email to DR and they fixed things up in a flash; great folks!

These strings have a warm feel and tone. They last through many consecutive gigs and rehearsals. And they look slick on my sunburst American Standard jazz bass. People always ask me about my strings. Black Beauties Baby!
