Flatwound

D’Addario’s most popular flat wound strings are their Chrome series. These strings, available in ten different sets, are recognized for their rich tone and smooth feel highly valued by players of jazz and rhythm and blues. A stainless steel “ribbon” wire is wound on multiple under-windings and then polished for an especially smooth surface. Many bass players have told us that they love the clear tone plus the projection that Chromes give them. Others say that these are the closest they can get to an upright bass sound on an electric bass.

Available in a variety of scale lengths, they also come in superlight, light, custom light and medium gauges, plus 4 or 5- string sets.
