80/20 Bronze Acoustic

D’Addario’s 80/20 bronze strings get their bright tone from their 80% copper and 20% tin components and are also called brass strings. More tin and less copper than phosphor bronze wound strings give 80/20 bronze strings the additional brilliance favored by recording artists, but they have a slightly shorter lifespan than phosphor bronze strings. These 80/20 bronze strings are wound on a hexagonal core made of high carbon steel giving every string a brilliance with excellent tone and long life.

The D’Addario family developed these strings as one of the first metal wound strings for guitar in response to the big jump in the guitar’s popularity in the 1930’s. Originally, these strings along with nylon strings replaced the traditional gut strings which had wonderful sound, but a short lifespan and poor tonal stability.
