Tilts toward brighter with slightly less bass
January 7, 2019
I'm trying these on a Kentucky KM-1000 and I find they tilt slightly on the tone spectrum to brighter.

I had a lady playing my mando in the studio on a Leonard Cohen song and I was "out front" where I could hear them and I found the sound almost Boozikee like.

It's nice, they seem to be lasting well, but I prefer the tonal balance tilted a little toward the bass side.

See another review where a bassier sounding Weber was made brighter and the customer liked it.
ProsLasting. Clear Bright tone

My favorite strings
February 25, 2018
These give a nice and crisp sound with plenty of volume. I particularly like how good the lower D and G strings sound with either chop chords, double stops, or even just a single note. Definitely my favorite strings.

D'Addario Stainless Steel Mandolin Strings
August 17, 2015
For all the different types of strings in the world. I gave these a try just to see the difference. These seem to last a bit longer and the sound is quite different, and the gauge fits me like a glove. I just ordered a couple of more sets. Us working musicians can use all the help we can these days. The price and quality is a big bang for the buck.

plain steel

The wound plain steels give my mando more bite, louder, and more cut for the bluegrass ensemble. They sound crisper for longer than the phosphor bronze. you do sacrifice a bit of bass and the warmth of the bronze. But my Weber is warm and bassy and needs that extra bite that these plain steels give. if was mando is already harsh, bright, and loud i wouldn't use these.

Are pretty much my favorite strings, far more interesting tone and volume than any other mando string I've used. Very well suited to the blues and string band style I play.
