I really like the strings, although they are much more expensive than other sets. Just wish A & E strings were available for purchase as separate strings.
Nice and smooth playing., Price

My favorite strings for my Gibson 1954 mando. I put Martins on and it sounds tinky instead of full bodied. going back to D'Addario.

These strings absolutely sound the best on my Givens mandolin. Warm, full, great sound. Perfect gauges for the Givens, too. Love that 39 G string! They last a long time, too.

Trying these out to see how different they were from J74's. Had 'em on for close to 2 months, been thru one live performance, and I'm kinda ready to go back to 74's. The strings sound and feel good; very warm and mellow. Maybe not as loud or assertive as 74's and I missed that when playing with other musicians. Not certain they project as well as standard 74's. That's probably all to be expected with flat wound.

The wound 2nd string solves lots of intonation problems. Easy to play- not for every mandolin, though.

"D'Addario's banjo sets are available in light and medium gauges, with a nickel-plated wound 4th string. Our bluegrass set is offered with a phosphor bronze-wound 4th string for extra brilliance and sustain. A complete range of mandolin-family strings is available, as well as various string lines for dulcimer, ukulele, tenor guitar, country fiddle, cuatro, oud, and bouzouki. D'Addario prides itself on offering quality strings for every popular stringed instrument available. Unfortunately, economic reasons and a lack of technical information prevent us from carrying stock sets for certain obscure or special instruments. Custom designed and manufactured strings can be made for a reasonable cost, presuming accurate specifications about the instrument can be provided."
