Worse with NY Steel
Per my review below, I was enamored of the EXP16s for my Breedlove Oregon. After trying some different strings, I went back to the EXPs and rediscovered the depth and complexity of the guitar.

Since D'Addario switched the product to their new NY Steel alloy however, it is a very different set of strings. I like D'Addario as a company, and was looking at racking up points for their swag using their replacement for the Player's Points system. But this NY Steel ... they say it brings more strength and tuning stability. These were not issues with the string that I ever encountered. And in this one guitarist's opinion, they bolixed up a really wonderful product. At the very least, they no longer sound good on a guitar where they used to really bring the mojo.

Re-ordering EXPs
Was led to Juststrings.com by a friend. Best prices for strings I've found hands down. I buy in bulk so I didn't need to re-order for 6 mons but when I did, the prices went up over $2 a pack. Its typical raising prices, but now this company is just barely under what I was getting in bulk from my local music store. Getting them online was more convenient and saved me a trip. Still a good price but now its not as sweet as it was.

Like reviewer Charles Rothmann, I just purchased a limited edition Breedlove Concert 25th. I liked the sound of this guitar so much that when I discovered the dealer didnt have any in stock, that I had him order me some for fear of changing the sound of this guitar by putting any other string on it. I didn't even know they were coated before I was reading reviews on the strings. I thought I was just playing great(no squawks). These will be all the strings that I will be putting on this guitar.

Factory spec on Breedlove
My limited edition Breedlove concert came standard with these strings. I was smitten by the tone, but then as we all do, I went on a mini-tonequest with different strings. And after exploring a bunch of options, the EXPs are back on the guitar. These strings bring out the subtleties of the midrange on this guitar. They have presence and depth. I buy them despite the fact they are coated, because I actually tend to lean towards uncoated! I tend to think that coated strings start out sounding like a two-week-old set of regular strings. But I think these strings are just more balanced right out of the box and stay that way for a while.

Great strings
Stay in tune an amazingly long time, last a long time, sound great. I use them on a Takamine G series full size guitar and a Washburn Rover travel guitar.

EXP16 Strings
I've used many different brands and types of acoustic strings over the past 30+ years and can say that these are, by far the best I've ever used. Now, I can't say they will be the best for every guitar I own but for my dreadnaught Ibanez and my Applause I can say they are exactly what I want. They have deep rich lows and clear highs. Compared to the 80/20 bronze, they provide a more full complete sound for me. Adding in that they last at least twice as long as other strings, I'm very happy!

D'Addarion EXP Coated Acoustic Phosphor
I have used these strings a few times in the past, and have been overall pleased. I do prefer the bronze over the phosphorus. I ordered 2 sets back in Dec. 2012, and put them on my Martin D35, and they were just horrible! The strings would not stay in tune; intonation was just bad. I tried another set, and that set may have been slightly better, however, I am just appauled at the intonation problems with these strings. Haven't been able to get back to the company yet, but I WILL NOT be ordering this type again. Very disappointed!!

exp coated lite acoustic guitar strings
Not crazy about the feel or the sound not as bright as ordinary phosphor bronze. These didn't seem to "bounce" off the neck like I seem to like. My feel I guess. So, I just went back the ordinary ones. And they sound great.

EXP Coated Light guage
Not crazy about the feel of these at all. I like the regular phosphorous bronze for tone and "bounce". Sorry, I like the uncoated ones best.

D'Addario EXP Coated Phospher Bronze Lite
These strings have the best "feel" of any coated phosphor bronze string I have used. Smooth touch for fingerpicking and lasts forever. Holds up well to dropped tunings.

These coated strings keep their tone without any apparent compromise in initial brightness. They record very well on my Larrivee dreadnaught. I have only experimented with a half dozen other brands and types, but I'm satisfied with these, and plan to stick with them.

I play these on a Taylor 412CE. It's a small body, Grand Concert, so I chose the EXP16s and got just what I wanted. The sound is balanced and just mellow enough for this instrument. Oh! Did I mention long lasting? They are that, also. Stay in tune amazingly well!

D'Addario EXP Strings
The EXP strings offered by D'Addario are by far the best strings I have used for both my Ovation and Martin guitars. They last a long time and sound great, play after play.

Love EXP16
I love these strings! They sound great, feel great, and last.

What more could you want? Color-coded ball ends? Got those, too. String changes take less than ten minutes.

The best out there.

Excellent strings. These strings provide the sound I like best on my guitars just the right balance between bright and mellow. As others, I've tried many different types and these are among my top 3 choices of string sets (the others are D'A flat tops and GHS PB lites).

D'Addario EXP16 12-53
I have been using these strings for years, as I tune down a step 1/2. Being a singer, songwriter, acoustic finger style guitarist, I need something that give me the tone, reliability I need when I do a concert. Very thankful for this string, and Just Strings that provides great service, and fresh strings always.

I have been using coated strings since they first came out well over a decade ago. I find that these strings perform the best. I can count on them to sound bright for a very long time.

D'Addario EXP 16's
Love these strings!! I gig at least twice a week as a solo acoustic act, and I play a ton of songs every time out. With my style of play, the strings take a pretty good beating, but I can still get two nights out of one set without losing one ounce of tone!! As others have said, I have tried all different kinds of strings, but once I started using these, there was no need to consider anything else. ps: My Martin has some say in that as well, ...it won't stay in tune with any other strings!!

D'Addario EXP16
I haven't played any other acoustic strings that I like as well as I like these. They have a traditional feel and tone and they hold up very well. After trying another brand, I put some of these back on and felt like I got my guitar back. I definitely prefer these over the 80/20's

EXP 16's are awesome
Unlike the other reviewer, I've not had any problems with EXP 16's. They have lots of dimension, play smoothly and seem to have a good playing life. I've tried several other brands and I've always returned to the EXP 16's.

Daddario exp Phosphor bronze lite
I have had 4 sets in which the intonation was faulty. One set was replaced by the factory. Poor quality control.

Ian Anderson, Janis Ian and Pete Yorn use EXP16.

"Demand for these new coated strings has skyrocketed since we first began sending out Beta samples. EXP strings' wrap wire is coated before it's wound onto the hex core, resulting in a string that lasts 3-4 times longer than a regular string, but still retains the feel and sound of traditional strings! Unlike any other coated strings on the market!"
