These are the only strings I will ever use on my acoustic bass.

fun strings

I wanted a duller sound than the stock round-wound, and these deliver. Mostly. The strings all sound pretty metallic when played open, but once you get up around the 7th fret they start to mellow out considerably and get just the sound I wanted! The high string stands out, a little brighter than the rest. The feel is great -- no more noise when I reposition my hand! But they are still very hard, you definitely can tell it's metal core not nylon all the way through. And they were easy to install and fit my washburn acoustic bass AB5 perfectly (I got medium scale length), but I did have to trim the silk a little on the low E's ball end in order to fit in the hole in the bridge (not sure if I'll wind up regretting that).
great dull sound on the 7th fret and up on the lower 3 strings. relatively more like a real double bass in this register. nice smooth feel -- almost no noise when sliding fingers. sound is pretty bright / metallic (not quite roundwound sound, but almost) when played on the top half of the neck or open, and the high G string sounds a little brighter than its buddies.

Feel Great, sound great

These strings made my Rogue VB-100 sound like an upright! They are extremely comfortable to play and have an incredible tone. The nylon tape also eliminates the string noise you might get from a roundwound string. They are said to be slightly brighter than traditional flats. I've had my strings on for about 18 months and they still sound like new. (I live in a tropical climate)
I just bought a p-bass and I can't wait to get my new strings for it.

If you like a lot of effects, distortion, or slapping, maybe these aren't for you. If you are looking for strings with a warm tone for blues, reggae, classic R&B, or country, these are a great choice.
Long-life Great, upright-like tone the 'sweet spot' between flats and roundwounds. comfortable on the fingers Probably not the best choice for slapping styles.

I use these on a Hofner Ignition Ed Sullivan bass. They sound and feel great. Tension is slightly lower than normal, which is good for a Hofner. They sit well in the mix, deep and full sounding.
