ENR 71 Half Round Bass Strings
April 21, 2016
Been using these string for nearly 20 years. They were recommended by my bass luthier in NJ in place of GHS Brite Flats. The ENR 71's are the perfect string for the tone I require and last far longer than the GHS Brite Flats. Great product!

I've used these strings for twenty years on my pedulla fretless basses and my bossa 6 string fretless and would never change - best string I ever had.

My last review had a mistake

I stated I had ENR81 previously - sorry about that, it was ENR72! Anyway, love these strings! Easier on my fingers, and they feel less "sticky" than the 72s. Nice sound, no squeaks to speak of.

The perfect strings!
September 5, 2014
I first tried the ENR81 strings (I think that was the number), but decided to try this lighter gauge, and I love them! I never could put up with the squeaks and other noises with round wound strings. My search for the perfect strings for my Ibanez SR300L is over! This lighter gauge feels more comfortable, too. For this bass, I'll be using these strings from now on!

ENR71 Half Rounds
April 20, 2012
I thought I'd try these as something in between round and flat wounds on my fretted bass. They sound good but what I really don't like is they grab my fretting fingers and don't have any slide to them without lifting them off the fretboard. Wherever I plant my fingers, that's where they stay. I play Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Ukes, and Bass (flatwound on a fretless bass) and there's some micro movement of the fingers on all those strings, but these just really bite in to the fingers and keep them there. No pain understand, and it may not bother other players, and I may get use to them, but as it stands, I'll try the ECB81's that I love on my fretless and on my fretless bass, too.

D'Addario Bass Half Rounds 45-100
March 7, 2011
Having used these for a while, I like them as well as the day I put them on. They feel like flats but with have a little more bite and presence. Can't fault these and I thought the price was good, too.

D'addario half rounds 45-100
February 8, 2011
I put these on my jazz bass because I find flatwounds a little too flat for the jazz but roundwound too bright; and I don't like the finger-chewing aspect of rounds.

These half-rounds are PERFECT. They feel just like a flat and have a nice fat tone, but I can still get a nice jazz growl by dialing in the bridge pickup a bit more.

Good overall tone, good tension, and a good price plus service. Couldn't be better.

''To Bass ,or not to Bass''

I have been a Bass Instrumentalist since 1986. I have not found a set of strings AT ALL that can make the crowd turn their attention. I even say this....My Bass is a 1970`s Epiphone Corenet, and if it can make such a relic sound good...(LAZRUS COME FORTH!!!) It will make anyone sound greater!!!!Try it....you like it.....:)

I have been using Round Wound strings for over 20 years, and tried some flat wounds recently. I liked the classic tones of the Flats; thought 1/2 Round would be even better. Eureka! I think my lifelong search for the perfect Bass Strings is over. I loved the tone(s) - the D'Addario 1/2 Rounds w/ nickel finish definitely "punch and growl" just like my Bartolini pick-ups are demanding, and the nickel finish is soft and silky too! Two thumbs up.

I just got these a few months ago. I like 'em a lot gives me a lot of tone choices for my 2 different basses. Ii currently use 'em on my MIM active p bass deluxe. They really rock. Gives it a real classic tone. I'm thinking of trying the GHS version for my MM sterling 4 string.

I have been using these strings for over twenty years, they went from nickel wound to stainless wound then as of now back to nickel wound. This present string is my favorite. I love the nickel wound.

"In 1976 D'Addario developed the Half Roundâ grinding process, which made available the "third kind of string." Each Half Roundâ string starts as an oversized precision round wound string and is centerless ground to a smooth, precise final diameter. With a tone between their round wound and flat wound peers, D'Addario Half Roundsâ offer the advantages of a smooth exterior string (reducing finger noise and fret wear) while maintaining some of the brightness of a round wound string."
