D"Addario flatwounds ECB81-5
I'm using these flatwounds almost exclussively on my Carvin fretless bass that I built. I have tried others, but they don't have as smooth of a feel as these do. Warm and great sustain even on a fretless neck. I love these strings. I even use flatwounds on my electric strat too. Best prices anywhere too.

D'Addario 5-String Flatwounds ECB81-5
The strings feel very nice and even alone the entire neck. They have a nice upright mwah tone to them. I highly recommend them.

Review
I've been playing these strings on my Dean Acoustic Fretless 5-String for over 3 years now and won't play anything else. They have great tone, project well unplugged, are easy on the fingers and don't tear up my neck. If you're looking for a nice thumpy sound from your acoustic bass I strongly recommend you give these a try.

D'Addario Flat Wounds 5 String, .045 - .132
Seems like an excellent set of strings that will take some time to mellow in. Are quite toppy when new but feel as if they will last for a very long time. I'm a huge fan of flatties on a bass - won't use anything else. Action mellow, low and Mo-Jo. Ace buy!

D'Addario Electric Bass Chromes Flat 5
Excellent strings: responsive, big sound. Especially interesting on my Godin electro-acoustic. With its hot 5-channel Piezo array, the phosphor bronze sets were too bright for my taste. Now I get the extra-large bottom the guys like classic pop-rock. Plus I can noodle mellowly in the 10th+ frets. Excellent playability. Extra resonance.

Product Reviews for D'Addario Electric Bass Chromes Flat Wound 5 String, .045 - .132, ECB81-5
I always use D'Addario Chromes on my 4 string basses 70's models - all passive. This 5 string set with a CBO32, was for a new 6 string active bass. I was not disappointed - very bright and responsive. A low 'B' that can shake the room and a high 'C' so sweet and clear... and I can still get a great 70's tone with them. I'm sure they will improve with age as they settle in.

Great strings!
I have used these strings for over a year now on an Ernie Ball Stingray 5 bass. I love the even tone that I get up and down the fretboard, and string-to-string. There's almost no string noise, which is great for recording, and they are very easy on the fingers. It's also nice that they are in a more standard gauge than La Bella strings, which require modifications to your nut, bridge, and in some cases tuning pegs. They are also amazingly bright for flatwounds. Mine are just barely starting to settle in after a year of heavy use. Highly recommended strings!

"D'Addario Chromesâ are crafted with precision flat (ribbon) outer windings and polished to a fine high luster, but this bass string's tone is not typical of most flat wound strings. By creating under-windings and core combinations that vibrate freely, D'Addario has been able to develop a flat wound bass string that has a true, clear sound while offering the advantages of a smooth exterior winding."
