Cleartone vs Elixir
December 9, 2015
Every acoustic guitar has it's own 'voice' based on the the body shape, interior bracing and woods used for building the instrument. I have discovered over 50 years of playing that each guitar will sound best with one particular string set. It takes a lot of experimentation to discover which string brand and weight bring out the best in any guitar. Cleartones sound great on my mahogany with cedar top guitar. Elixirs sounded flat for some reason. However, on my mahogany with mahogany top dread the Elixirs sound best. My jumbo rosewood with spruce top responds well to a little heavier gauge polyweb string. There is really no 'one size fits all' in guitar strings. Don't be afraid to experiment. Every string manufacturer has something worthwhile to offer. I recommend Cleartones as a true premium brand string set.

Cleartone Acoustic Guitar Strings

I am quite satisfied with these strings. The tone is great and they don't hurt my fingers. I will continue to purchase the same strings.

meets my professional needs
December 29, 2009
I've tried all kinds of strings for my Taylor 814CE. Coated and non coated. Cleartones meet my needs for fingerstyle playing on my auditorium size guitar. They hold up, don't feel greasy like other coated strings, and sound good a very long time. I gig several times a week, and I can get a months worth out of one set. That is pretty amazing. Casual users, who knows, but these strings, for my money, are worth the extra cost. And I'm VERY picky.

Long Life for the infrequent player

This guage too thin for those worried about tone. Lower tension makes for great playing, and the strings last a very, very long time without that dirty feeling found on regular stainless/phosphor-bronze. Feel good after 3 months of intermittent playing on a guitar left out of its case! Worth every penny just for that.
