C.F. Martin Banjo Strings
Martin’s banjo strings bear the well know name Vega. The Vega Company had long been famous for their high quality instruments, especially their popular 5-string banjos used by many folk musicians in the 1960’s, including Pete Seeger and the Kingston Trio. The CF Martin Company acquired the Vega Instrument Company in the 1970’s, and eventually began also making “Vega” banjo strings, which we carry today.
Martin Vega Banjo strings are available for five string banjo (one wound string) in light and medium gauges and four string tenor banjo (two wound strings). The wound strings are made with a tin-plated steel core wire wrapped with nickel alloy wire. The plain strings are silvered steel. CF Martin describes these strings as brilliant, clear and long lasting, and many of our customers agree. The wound strings use a nickel alloy that works well with the bold resonations of many banjos and is very corrosion resistant.
Endorsed by a multitude of great musicians from Loudon Wainwright III to the Lumineers, these strings are extremely versatile working well with a variety of banjo playing styles.
