Always my favorite
December 22, 2021
I’m just getting back to playing some classical guitar after quite a few years, but I did not forget that after going through many different strings, the Augustine Blues were my well established favorite. They are soft, smooth, and comfortable and keep their tuning well. I also had tried other types of Augustine as well but always came back to the Blue so I’m happy to have these again in my house and looking forward to amping up the guitar as well.

I've been using these strings for years, if not decades (of course, not just one set!).
Easy to string up, they sound great, and I like the feel.

I find Agustine Blues fit my requirments perfectly.

I have used just about every nylon string set available. I find Agustine Blues meet my requirements 100%. Trebles clear and ringing. Bass strings amazing tones and color easily controlled by varying finger pressure.Wider range of bass tones. Very expressive. Plus they do not stretch. Many top brands when new have to be retuned repeatedly while Blues hold tune after a few retunings.. They hold tune. Overall my favorite nylon string set,
Blues meet my requirements 100%. None

Great strings

These strings work really well with my Cordoba C5. Basses have a deep crisp sound and the trebles sing out sweetly. I'll definitely buy these again!

I have several hand made nylon guitars, and my luthier suggested that I use these at that time. I've used them since and have had the best sound possible. I've compared them to other strings but to me they seem far superior then other nylon strings. Don't take my word for it, try them for yourself.

All the best!

Your descriptions are very confusing, go to Augustine's site for a clear description.

The Augustine String Line

"We use three different types of nylon.

1. Augustine Blue, Red, Black, and Gold all use one type of nylon for Trebles.

2. Augustine Regals use a second type of nylon for Trebles.

3. Augustine Imperials use a third type of nylon for Trebles.

Each nylon has a different quality of sound.

We have four different kinds of bass strings.

Blue : All Blue basses are the same.

We have Augustine Blue 4, 5, 6 with type 1 nylon.

We have Augustine Regal 4, 5, 6 with type 1 nylon.

We have Augustine Imperial 4, 5, 6 with type 1 nylon.

RED : All Red basses are the same .

We have Augustine Red 4, 5, 6 with Type 1 nylon.

We have Augustine Regal 4, 5, 6 with Type 1 nylon.

We have Augustine Imperial 4, 5, 6 with type 1 nylon.

The same goes for the Gold and Black basses.

If we want a 4th Blue, we will find that same string:

in a set of Augustine Blue.

in a set of Augustine Regal Blue.

in a set of Augustine Imperial Blue.

The trebles are differentiated by tone color-although the Regal 1, 2, and 3 will be a little more tense than the Regular or Imperial.

The same is true of the bass strings. Under identical conditions the blue basses are a little tighter than the red, but about the same as the regular. Again, there is no way you can advise someone what is best for him-all our bass tensions are very close-All our treble tensions are also very close. For that reason alone it's best for each guitarist to pick what is best for himself.

For those who cannot decide-the cheapest string is best and that is what I would recommend. "
