Blue
Jargar strings are known for their brilliantly warm tone and easy bowing response. Hand-wound in Copenhagen since 1956, the Jargar’s Blue viola string set is the medium tension string and the preferred tension of most violist. The viola strings feature a flexible steel core which provides more tonal stability, projection and increased resonance compared to gut strings. The windings include a thin thread combination of aluminum, copper and metal alloys.
The G and C strings feature silver upper windings and are also available with complete, pure silver windings. The silver provides richer overtones and a deeper, warmer tone, comparable to a gut string sound. Sized to only fit full scaled instrument, Jarger’s Blue viola strings are the most popular of the three different tensions produced by Jargar. The Forte (Red), the high tension strings, provides a darker tone, and the Dolce (Green), the low tension, is much brighter. The Blue viola strings enjoys a tonal balance between these two tensions.
