Product Reviews for GHS Pure Nickel Rollerwound (Semi-flat) .018, N18
GHS Pure Nickel Rollerwound (Semi-flat) .018, N18Michael McdanielDecember 8, 2009I can't even buy these locally. (That's right. Hard to find, even in Dallas, Texas). Using the nickle-wound 18's for the G-string in place of the (reg. straight 17's) that come with most light gauge sets, makes for a smoother sounding, easier tuning G string (electric guitars only, I believe). The "harmonics" of the nickle-wound G string (possibly the smallest wound string made) makes for clean tuning without the "brash over-ringing" of a standard "straight 17 gauge string". The nickle-wound 18 will probably "wear out sooner" and "even break", BUT IT IS STILL WORTH IT, "BY FAR", if your goal is "purer string/ chord harmonies".
